Our sujuk sausage rollsVery easy to make but quite a different taste to the store bought product. This one is quite cinnamon-y. You may like to vary the quantities of spices, especially the chilli.

You need

  • 500 gms lamb mince
  • 2 cloves of crushed garlic
  • 1 tspn ground cumin
  • 1/4 tspn ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tspn ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tspn ground coriander
  • 1 tspn mint
  • 1 tspn oregano
  • 1/4-1/2 tspn chilli flakes
  • 1 tspn paprika
  • a pinch of salt to taste
  • 500g puff pastry
  • 1 egg yolk for pastry glaze


Heat oven to 200C. Combine meat, garlic and spices and mix thoroughly. Cut pastry into strips about 6-8 cm wide. Arrange the meat in the middle of each strip and roll up. Stick the edges together using a little water if necessary. Glaze with the beaten egg. Brush some sesame seeds on top of the rolls and cook for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
